Overview
Babylon is a personal AI fitness coaching app for iPhone. It creates personalized training and nutrition plans, answers your questions through an AI coach, and helps you track workouts, meals, and progress. To do that, Babylon needs some information about you — this policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version: we collect what's needed to coach you well, we don't sell your personal information, and health-related information you share is used to personalize your plan and coaching — nothing else.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details — your name, email address, and authentication credentials (including sign-in via Google or Apple, where offered).
- Profile, goals, health, and fitness details — the details you share during onboarding and afterwards, including goals, training experience, weekly schedule, session length, available equipment, body measurements, injuries or physical limitations, dietary preferences, and allergies.
- Fitness and nutrition logs — workouts, exercises, sets, weights, personal records, meals and ingredients, calories and macronutrients, weigh-ins, and optional progress or meal photos. Progress photos stay private to your account.
- Coach conversations and selected attachments — messages you exchange with the AI coach and photos, videos, or documents you choose to attach.
- Voice input — recordings you choose to make for coach dictation. Voice recordings are transmitted for transcription and are not intentionally retained by Babylon after a transcript is returned.
Information collected with your permission
- Apple Health — if you choose to connect Apple Health, we read the categories you approve (such as body weight) to keep your progress in sync. You can disconnect at any time in iOS Settings.
- Push notifications — if you enable notifications, we store a device push token so your coach can send check-ins, reminders, and nudges. You control which categories are on, and quiet hours, in the app.
- Integrations — if you connect optional integrations (such as Notion or Telegram), we store the tokens needed to operate them. You can disconnect them in the app.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data — app interactions, feature usage, device type, OS version, and crash reports, used to keep Babylon working well and improve it.
How we use your information
- To generate and adapt your personalized training program and nutrition targets.
- To power the AI coach — your plan, logs, and conversation context are what make its guidance specific to you.
- To send the notifications you've enabled (check-ins, reminders, progress nudges).
- To operate referrals, subscriptions, and customer support.
- To understand aggregate usage, fix bugs, and improve the product.
AI providers and data sharing
When AI data sharing is enabled, Babylon sends only information relevant to the feature you request to the following providers:
- OpenAI — receives voice recordings you submit for transcription and relevant conversation or profile information used to create and maintain coach memory, embeddings, and conversation continuity.
- Google — receives onboarding answers and relevant profile, goal, health, fitness, and nutrition details for generated plans; food photos or descriptions for food recognition; photos, videos, or documents you select for attachment analysis; and conversation information used for features such as thread naming.
- Anthropic — receives relevant messages, profile and goal information, health and fitness details, nutrition information, logs, coach memories, and selected attachment analysis when an Anthropic model is used to generate personalized coaching responses.
- Requesty — may receive and route the same relevant request content to the selected AI model provider as AI-processing infrastructure.
- OpenRouter — may receive and route the same relevant request content to the selected AI model provider as AI-processing infrastructure.
For onboarding plan generation, this information may include your goals, date of birth and sex, height and weight, target weight, training experience, schedule, available equipment, injuries or limitations, exercise preferences, dietary style, allergies or intolerances, food preferences, meal habits, and obstacles you report. Discovery-source answers, prior-app-use answers, display-unit preferences, and chosen start dates are retained by Babylon but are not included in the AI plan-generation request. For later AI features, relevant information may also include messages, voice recordings and transcripts, training plans, nutrition targets, workout and meal logs, stored coach memories, food descriptions, and photos, videos, or documents you deliberately attach.
These companies act as service providers to Babylon. They are required to protect personal data to the same or an equal standard as described in this policy, process it only to provide the requested Babylon functionality, and not use it for advertising or to train public AI models.
Your AI-sharing choice
AI-powered onboarding, coaching, and analysis are disabled unless you affirmatively select “Yes, continue” in Babylon's AI data-sharing disclosure. If you decline, Babylon does not submit onboarding answers, AI requests, recordings, or AI attachments to the providers listed above.
You can review or change your choice under Settings → Privacy & AI. Turning AI data sharing off stops future AI coaching, voice transcription, AI attachment analysis, image and text food recognition, generated nutrition plans, AI exercise interpretation, coach-memory processing, and proactive AI coaching. Existing plans, conversations, memories, manually entered logs, and static reminders remain available. If you later try an AI feature, Babylon will ask for permission again before continuing.
Cloud storage and uploads
Babylon uses Supabase for cloud-hosted databases, authentication-related account records, and object storage. Account information, plans, conversations, logs, coach memories, profile photos, progress photos, meal photos, and other files you choose to upload may be stored there and linked to your account.
Photos, videos, and documents selected for AI coach analysis are first uploaded to Babylon's cloud storage and, only when AI sharing is enabled, sent to Google for analysis. Non-AI uploads, such as profile and progress photos, may still be stored and displayed when AI sharing is disabled; they are not sent to an AI provider unless you separately select them for an AI feature.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers — Supabase for cloud hosting, databases, storage, and authentication-related services; OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Requesty, and OpenRouter for the AI processing described above; Apple and notification infrastructure for purchases and push delivery; PostHog for product analytics and session replay; and Sentry for crash reporting, diagnostics, and sampled session replay.
- Integrations you connect — for example, messages delivered to your Telegram or data synced to your Notion workspace, at your direction.
- Legal requirements — if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Babylon and its users.
- Business transfers — if Babylon is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer with appropriate protections.
Health-related information
Fitness, nutrition, and body measurements are sensitive. We use them only to provide and improve your coaching experience. Data read from Apple Health is used in accordance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines: it is never used for advertising or shared with third parties for marketing, and it is only synced with your explicit permission.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account from the app's settings (or by contacting us), which permanently deletes your profile, logs, uploaded files, photos, coach memories, and coach conversations from our production systems within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep certain records (for example, transaction records). Residual copies in encrypted backups expire according to the applicable backup-rotation schedule.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted within our systems, and authentication is handled by an established identity provider. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your training data with the same care we'd want for our own.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app; for anything else, contact us and we'll help.
Children
Babylon is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 years old to use Babylon. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.
